Pipa

February 28, 2009

If you are craving tapas, cava sangria, and a great atmosphere – Pipa is the place! Located beneath ABC Home & Carpet in New York City the ceilings are adorned with hundreds of chandeliers (complete with tags indicating their respective prices – fun) and the long communal tables of dark wood make it a ‘go-to’ for groups. Be sure to try the white asparagus with porcini truffle aioli,  ham croquettes, and mushroom cocoa catalan flat bread with caramelized onions, figs, serrano ham, and toasted almonds!

Equator Books

February 27, 2009

This is my favorite bookstore located on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach, California! The outside facade features a steel garage door that opens up the entire store front to the beautiful weather of sunny California. Walking in the morning down Abbott Kinney is one of my favorite and most cherished memories of Los Angeles. Venice is an incredible area and Equator Books is a true gem. The entire store features original art and rare books, which make it a great place to spend time exploring. Read up!

La Esquina

February 27, 2009

Rumor is that La Esquina’s hayday has already come and gone. Regardless I still love the cute cafe upstairs and slinking past the ’employees only’ door in the Taqueria, walking through the kitchen, and emerging into the cavernous gothic vault. It is always an exciting and enjoyable experience! Thanks to one of my favorite and most trusted foodie friends, I have come to crave their corn con queso fresco and wonderful taco salads. Eat up and enjoy!

Logan Hicks

I really enjoy stencil art and I love being able to spot new and exciting artists hitting the streets when I travel. This is one of my new favorite artists, who I think is extremely talented! He also has started showing/selling some of the photos that he makes his stencils from in addition to his stencil art. The results are incredible! Logan Hicks is truly talented. Check him out.
